Description

Parent/umbrella: #314 (OAM - Alerts and delivery thereof).

Scope

Ensure every system has a correct reverse DNS (PTR) record.

Why it matters

rDNS is foundational and blocks several other workstreams: syslog (hostnames instead of IPs), netdisco device naming, and mail relay deliverability (anti-spam). Should be done early.

Dependencies

  • Blocks: D (Centralized syslog), B/netdisco (LibreNms modules), F (Mail relay), C (Alert transports via email).

Progress 2026-08-07: batch-fixed 10 PTR records (preprod-awx, preprod-hfnoc-uisp, preprod-rancherplatform, sectestbed-ca typo, sectestbed-hfnoc-uisp, tsys-ucs-01, pfv-rr-middleware-01, pfv-tsys3, pfv-tsys7, tsys-proxmox-datacenter). 63/79 TS nodes now fully consistent. Remaining: ultix-highside PTR (needs reverse zone 100.109.70.x create), ultix-mini/sidecar forward records, netbird forward. Also fixed 2 VM-name mismatches (53103, 515).
