Problem

Switch SNMP location strings are inconsistent across the fleet:

Scope

  • User approves location standard
  • Apply via conman on each switch: snmp-server location PFV/Server-Room/Rn
  • Update LibreNMS device locations (auto-discovered from SNMP)
  • Update NetDisco device locations (auto-discovered from SNMP)
  • Update phpIPAM device locations

Notes

  • phpIPAM sections already structured this way (PFV > Server Room / EE Lab / Art Room)
  • Aligns with rack numbering in Discourse #304 (Proxmox Fleet Reference)

COMPLETE (2026-08-11). All 4 Dell switches updated via conman, saved to startup-config, verified via SNMP:

  • pfv-r5-core-01: PFV/Server-Room/R5
  • pfv-r3-tor-mgmt-01: PFV/Server-Room/R3
  • pfv-r3-tor-stor-01: PFV/Server-Room/R3
  • pfv-r6-mgmt-01: PFV/Server-Room/R6

Cisco router (pfv-rrinfra-rtr) blocked by #431 (fan). Will be set to PFV/Server-Room/R2 when fan replaced.

LibreNMS and NetDisco will auto-discover new locations on next poll cycle.
